ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System

ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System

WHAT IS ISO 22000?

ISO 22000:2005, titled “Food Safety Management Systems — Requirements for Any Organization in the Food Chain,” is an international standard. It is intended to replace HACCP standards published by various countries and achieve worldwide recognition similar to ISO 9001.

The ISO 22000 standard can be implemented independently of other management system standards or alongside other management systems, such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

The ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System standard was developed based on ISO 9001 and the HACCP principles and implementation steps established by the international Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC). It aims to ensure food safety throughout the food chain by establishing and implementing a structured management system, coordinating the organization’s management activities, analyzing all processes, updating them when necessary, and promoting continual improvement.

ISO 22000 is an international standard published to eliminate the complexity arising from different management system standards used by organizations in the food chain.
